Before publishing her first novel, As You Were, in 2020, Elaine Feeney had published three acclaimed poetry collections. Her award-winning debut novel explores themes of illness, memory and silenced female voices. The exploration of institutional failure is a recurring motif in her writing as well as other creative work, including her role as creative director of the Tuam Oral History Project, which gives voices to the survivors of the Tuam Mother and Baby Home.
